Hey there! I’m Shayna, the proud founder of DIY Web Studio, where I help therapists create stunning, client-attracting websites all on their own. If you’ve ever felt lost trying to get your website up and running, or if you’re a therapist hoping to connect with clients who need you most, I’m here to make that journey as easy (and fun) as possible.
Once upon a time, I was a music major dreaming up compositions and singing all day long. Music was—and still is—something I love, but halfway through college, I felt a pull toward something different. I made a big leap and switched to Communications, where I got to dive into everything from Public Relations to Digital Media Marketing. But here’s the kicker: my web design training was only in coding websites from scratch—a skill that is super cool but not the most efficient for most folks looking to get their websites off the ground quickly. So, I went into full-on DIY mode, teaching myself how to design sites using Showit (my personal fave).
Now, with a bunch of beautiful websites and happy clients under my belt, I’m here to share everything I know about Showit, website strategy, and branding—especially for the mental health community, a group that has come to mean so much to me.
In 2020, like so many of us, I was adjusting to life during COVID while attending an out-of-state college. It was an isolating time, and for many of the girls in my building, the pressures took an unimaginable toll. I saw firsthand the struggles that many were going through—some even ended tragically—and it was a huge wake-up call. I educated myself on mental health, got my Mental Health First Aid certification, and decided then that I wanted to do more with my skills to make a difference.
So, why therapists? Because I know that with the right website, therapists can reach more clients and help those who might otherwise struggle to find support. My mission is to make sure that people searching for help can easily find the right therapist online—no stress, just the support they need.
Now that you know a little about my “why,” here’s a peek at the day-to-day Shayna. First off, chocolate chip cookies are my absolute go-to dessert. If there’s ever a cookie shortage, you can probably blame me. I also think tea rooms are just the cutest thing ever, and if I’m not working on a new website design, you’ll probably find me sipping tea (from a mug) and dreaming up new DIY Web Studio ideas in middle-of-nowhere Oregon with my sweet family.
Here’s what DIY Web Studio is all about: empowering therapists to create websites that are not just pretty but powerful. I’ve seen firsthand how challenging it can be to get started online, and I’ve developed templates, tutorials, and even a DIY website course (launching soon!) to make it easy, affordable, and, yes, totally doable. My Tether template, for example, is coming this December and is specially designed for therapists to showcase their services in a way that’s welcoming and effective.
So, if you’re a therapist who wants to attract more clients or just anyone looking to level up their website game, you’re in the right place. I can’t wait to share my journey and help you on yours, one beautiful, client-attracting website at a time.
Thank you for stopping by and getting to know me! Whether it’s a love for cookies, a heart for mental health, or a passion for powerful web design, I hope there’s something here that resonates with you. Let’s make your website not only a reflection of who you are but a connection for those who need it most.
Catch you around—probably with a cookie in hand. ?
